Spring Anime Lineup: What's New on Crunchyroll
I like to welcome you back to another episode and those who are anime enthusiasts. Now for those who don't know I like anime and you probably do too. Now with spring here that also means new anime and Crunchyroll has already put out the list of what You know what we're going to be seeing and feeding on for this seasonal lineup and I would like to talk about it I know you want to talk about it.
You probably have already seen You know some teasers here and there and i'm excited to get into it So I'm excited to see what the spring lineup has in store for not just you but for all of us anime fans, so Let's get into it.
Anime Highlights: Reincarnated as an Aristocrat
So first, let's take a look at some of the highlights from Crunchyroll's spring lineup here.
We have a anime called reincarnated Reincarnated as an aristocrat and I'll use my appraisal skill to arise in the world. Now this is a new anime and for those it started off as a manga and probably a light novel. I myself have read the manga and I did enjoy it. Now for those who don't know this is another isekai so I know.
I can hear the sighs already. Why do we need another isekai? You know, if it's not broke, you know, you don't need to fix it. And apparently, isekais are essentially a money maker and, you know, boom. You can't really, you know, argue with that. Now, not saying all isek, you know, animes that are within the isekai genre are great.
There are some duds, but there are some bangers. Now, a little bit about this anime just from, you know, the summary is that ours, Lovette, reincarnates into a world with a special skill, seeing others hidden powers and stats. So it didn't really give too much, you know, description, but essentially He's given a cheat code.
A cheat code to see essentially people's abilities. So, say, an example would be, if he, if you could see your, an affinity towards a person, like, if they were good at, you know, Basketball, Baseball, or whatever skill, you could be able to see their affinity and then place them in something that they were good at and essentially.
Is what this main character has is that he has the ability to see people's trait skills and kind of like mold them into what they want to do and build them up. essentially, in a world where, you know, he's Again, born into nobility, which is always interesting because with some of these ego , a lot of these main characters are like.
Burn into Nobility. None of them are just born poor and stay poor. They're always like they born, they're born and you know, they struggle and then they don't struggle anymore. They get to a point where, you know, they're able to. You know, live a comfortable life and that's it. I just want there to be an, an anime where the character just, he's just on that struggle bus and he just stays there for an entire season.
I mean, you know, they're, and I get that, you know, we're, we don't want the, we don't want an anime to have a bad ending. I'm like, you know, give me a bad ending. Give. I want, I don't want. The main character to be successful all the time. I mean, I want him to like struggle and you know, this might not be your cup of tea for this particular anime as you know, this one, the character, he's not overpowered.
I would say given with that, he just has an ability to see people's stats. Like a Pokemon character. Like he could see people stats like, like Pokemon. But that's pretty much it, you know? So it was not too crazy. I mean, it would've been. You know it's not out of the realm of possibility if they would of give him some god tier ability where he was overpowered because Lord only knows we need another isekai or anime where the main character is over powered as Sh.
Now moving on to the next one.
Returning Favorites: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3
Now, this is not a new anime. It's a recurring anime. Got its third season, which is That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3. Now, the summary reads, Rimuru must confront new threats against Tempest as the Holy Empire approaches. Now, I am I'm particularly, you know, fond of this anime.
I, I've watched it, you know, from season one, two and three. I even went to go watch the movie that they had in theaters. So I particularly like this anime and I kind of like how they went about it. The character didn't start off as OP. He struggled, you know, I mean, he's OP now, but he, he, he struggled. Had to get there through hard work and determination.
Kind of like, you know, Naruto in that respect, but he's not like, you know. Doesn't have like a, a, a world ending power. He still, you know, there's still people out there who are stronger than him and they can still give him a, a run for his money. And so I kind of like that aspect where, you know, even though he's on a power scale, you know, powerful, there are still individuals out there that could still, you know, beat him in some sense.
And so this. This is one I've been looking forward to after season 2 ended. I know there's probably you know some fans out there in the universe, I see you over there. You know just jumping up and joy. Probably with your Rimuru plushie, you know. Which is I've seen a couple of those at SakuraCon. I missed my chance to get one.
What I need is more like a wall scroll, which I haven't seen too many. You know, that time I got reincarnated as a slime merch. So I was kind of disappointed, but you know, hopefully, you know, there are some prints and things like I'll see you at the next convention.
New and Exciting: Windbreaker
Now, moving on to the next anime, which is a little bit new, but it kind of reminds me of like High School Tokyo Revengers and another anime that I can't put my name on it, but it's called Windbreaker.
Now, the summary reads as this, Hiroku Sakura aims to make a quick name for himself in a school full of tough delinquents. Now, that kinda doesn't really give much information, but the picture art, you know, seems like he's gonna fight. Has something to do with fighting and it looks like they're all wearing windbreakers, which maybe that has something to do with it.
I'm look kind of excited to watch this. I haven't watched it you know, I'm waiting for it to come out, but it looks interesting because the art style it kind of reminds me of like battle royale, in a sense. So this one I'm keeping my eye on because if it's, you know, just a good beat em up type of anime, you know, just one character who's gonna, you know, gonna solve everything with his fists and then just get pummeled on his way to the top.
I'm here for it. You know, there's always you always need that one type of anime. That's just gonna make you laugh You know and then the main characters that's gonna take us lumps, you know, but still keep fighting He got that Naruto spirit, you know Yes, so those are you know, these are the three that I Picked out from the lineup there are you know a lot more but these were the ones that stood out You
full breakdown of you know the lineup now by the time this episode does come out we'll probably be in you know the spring season of anime so just keep that in mind that when you do listen to this Some of these animes will already be in their simulcast.
Personal Watchlist: Must-Watch Anime
Now we're going to move on to my personal watch list.
Now, our personal watch list is ever so changing when it comes to anime. I'm always, you know, picking some from every seasonal lineup and then, you know, I was thinking like, Oh, this looks good. It catches my eye. I'm going to add it to my watch list and then just never watch it again or not even pick it up and watch it.
So I have a few on my watch list that I've decided to pick up. Now one of them is season three of that time I got reincarnated as a slime.
I end up picking up Kaiju number 8, Re Monster, Solo Leveling, I just finished that, Classroom of the Elite, Blue Exorcist, Masho, Magic and Muscle, I have to finish this, that one, Tales of the Wedding Rings, Meshuggah Tenzin Jobless Reincarnation, which is another one that just came out Season 3, or Season 2, a continuation of Season 2 for this one I just picked up and then I also just added, as a reincarnated, as a reincarnated Chris Pratt, I'll use my appraisal skill to rebuild the world.
And I don't know if I've said Kaiju number eight, that's another one and did you want adventure Textu Michi Moonlight Fantasy, Fiorina I have to finish The faraway paladin I just finished Rise the rising of the shield hero and Yu Yu Hakusho Another one that I have on my watch list is Spy X Family Roni Kenshin I'm gearing up for My Hero Academia the next season.
So these are just a few that are in my watchlist right now. Some of them I've finished. Some of them are in the process of being being watched. They're going to be done. And the reason why I bring up my watchlist, I just want to share with everyone that, you know, I just don't Watch anime and do overview on it.
I personally have a va, you know, interest in anime, so I do watch 'em. I do watch anime and in there was Naruto and then Boto as well. So I do have anime that I watch and some of 'em are my, you know, my fan favorites where I just go back and re-watch again. So, and there are some that I, you know, will watch.
Not watch, go back and continue the series. So those are just a few to get some insight. Now my partner has been telling me, or people have been telling me that I need to finish Spy X Family. I need to actually start this. I feel so bad because I'm so behind. And it's no fault of my own, I get busy, but Spy X Family is one I need to finish.
And Fearin is another one I need to finish. So there's a few of them that I, I've added that I need to actually finish watching which I'll probably end up doing a review, a review on them once I'm done. But it's just things catch up or things get in the way and I'll add them. And then just another anime comes up.
I'll focus on that and I just never get to watch them. So a few of these are actually from prior seasonal lineups that I've added that caught my interest. And then I was going to watch and then just never actually watched. So I wanted to give some insight to my personal watch list.
The Anime Graveyard: Shows That Didn't Make the Cut
Now, with that being said, I do have an anime graveyard.
These are animes, well I'm calling it the anime graveyard, or the animes that have been touched by the Death Note. And what I mean by my anime graveyard are just animes that I either watched, added to my watchlist, attempted to watch, and just never continued again and ended up removing. So, in that anime graveyard, you'll find Saki and the Peeps, The Witch and the Beast, The Strongest Tank, Zombies Of Tomorrow, Re soprattutto hmm, Best Tank Of The World Rio de Janeiro L.
A. T. Underground A, The strongest tank and Zaum one hundred Now, the reason why I have these four I picked out these four was that They were When they came out when during each one of the seasonal lineups they were promising and they grabbed my attention but channel. As I watched each one of them, I just couldn't get into them.
Like the witch and the beast looked really interesting to watch and it had a promising of like, you know, that exorcist type fighting the witch, which there has been another anime like that. And I gave it like in one or two episodes and it was something I just couldn't really get into because It didn't just it didn't grab my attention and normally with something like that.
I normally End up putting that anime in the background and end up doing something else so I find myself if an anime ends up being In my graveyard. It's one, if I'm just trying to watch it and push through? I'll just put it on in the background and do other stuff. That means I'm not really paying attention to it.
The Strongest Tank was one. I thought was going to be really interesting, had a good concept, until the first episode, when I realized it was not What it was Sold as intentionally, and that was a let down. I was like, okay, cool. I'm not gonna wash this anymore because the main character was, you know, had built all his stats.
He was like built to be a tank, for his crew, and they let him go, but he still had all this stuff. And it was just, it was weird. It was done. And so like, I guess a little bit of the premise, like a almost game,
a game preference. So he had built his stats. And I have seen so many animes with that type of preference and they kind of also made it kind of like jokingly funny and it just what it kind of like made me lose interest in anime because I was hoping it was like something more serious and this type of anime would be like a one shot, which you do find a lot of those in the anime landscape.
A lot of just like one shot animes with like simple names that don't get a a second season. They're just one stories and that's it. Now, ZOM 100 was very promising in the fact that I think what did This anime a disservice to me was like right when it came out Netflix did a movie like in in relation to when the anime was come it came out and I think I watched the anim watched the movie the live action movie instead of the anime.
And I think that kind of ruined it for me, was that I was able to watch the, the whole movie and then just not watch the anime. And I think that, for me personally, kind of did the anime a disservice because it was almost like, from what people said, kind of like a, a one for one. I wouldn't be able to really know because I didn't follow up on the anime or watch it, but.
That was kind of a unique situation that that this anime came out and then right afterwards the there was a movie. Now for Sasuke and the Peeps, this one I didn't even touch. I had it on my watch list because it looked interesting. Just based on the title and the graphic art the art of the, the anime, the title art, and then it just sat there.
And as I mentioned earlier, sometimes if something, you know, grabs my attention by the, you know, the graphic, and the art I'll add it to my watchlist with the intents of like hopefully watching it but this one, I had added it to my watchlist and just never let Bye. An opportunity to watch it or even decided to watch it.
But by that time, so much time had passed that if I never watched the first episode, I'm not going to. And so this one had the, the unfortunate. Fate of being, you know, meeting its end in the anime graveyard and not saying it's unfortunate, but there are a lot of more animes that are in my anime graveyard than just the four that I selected.
And that could be another topic for another time. But who's to say that I might not, you know, at a later time, come back to these four animes and give them a second chance. You know, and with a different perspective. So, that's also one thing. If an anime ends up in my anime graveyard, does not mean I'll never watch it again.
Just means it's been shelved. But I could always come back to it at a later date to watch it again.
And there, moving on, you have it.
Final Thoughts and Announcements
It's a little peak, I wouldn't say, more like a sample size of the Crunchyroll Spring 2024 line up now as I mentioned earlier This were just you know a few anime That I did select From their lineup now the list is huge I Didn't want to go over all of them. I felt like You know, those who want to, you know, do some investigating and figure out which animes they do want to watch.
Or may have an interest in, can go on to their on the link and see those animes, or by the time, again, when this episode does come out, we'll already be into the spring anime season. So, I also want to, you know, give some personal information of, you know, my own anime, you know, watching preferences and watch lists.
For those who might be curious, I am an anime fan and vivid anime and the app that I use is Crunchyroll. And I'm excited that now Like Netflix, you can have different profiles. So, I was able to create a profile for my partner and we no longer have to share the same profile. Profile, so no longer seeing or watching history, which I didn't mind, but you, you know, sometimes she's in the mood for some, you know, some romance and I'm in the mood for some action, and sometimes it's just, it kind of overlaps and gets kind of crazy.
So now she can just watch all the, you know. Slice of life anime on her profile and I can just watch all the isekai's and action and adventures on mine So I did like that new update and Yeah, so I figured just want to give some insight talk a little bit about the spring About the anime lineup now the format is a little different.
